The first Reiki initiation is given over two days. The Initiate receives four attunements on the second day. Each attumnement opens the energy centres of the body to receive Reiki. After receiving the first four attunements the first sanskrit symbols is given.

There is an actual physical sensation of the energy passing through the Reiki Master and into the initiate durning an attunement that feels like a small current of electricity. Some initiates have a stronger sense of this than others and some seem to receive the energy more easily and with more physical sensations than others.

The most common physical experiences that initiates feel are a sensation of warmth, electricity, pulsations and energy waves. Initiates have a sensation of heat or what is actually energy in the palms that is far greater than the natural body heat. Very soon initiates see colours ( particularly violet), images or have new insights duning, or in the days and weeks that follow the initiations.

With the Third Degree of Reiki the initiate receives two more attunements and a further Sanskrit symbol. This symbol activates the energy to aid in the balancing of the chakras and enhances innate intuitive gifts. The third symbol works with connecting you to you to your Higher self and Divine purpose. Allowing to you to move beyond the fixed nature of the mind and bring forth greater compassion humility for the suffering of both sentient beings surrounding phenomenon and energy.
